What is Newton’s Cradle? It’s an ultra-low-budget feature made by and for science fiction geeks.
It’s a lo-fi sci-fi movie like Primer or Pi, about three young scientists who are infected with a point of view that makes the rules of physics break down around them. They quarantine themselves inside their house and race to reverse the process before they go insane, or die, or infect the rest of the world with this reality-shattering disease.
We think cinematic science fiction lags behind written science fiction by about 30 years, and we’re hoping to bridge the gap with this project. We dramatize the kind of stuff that physics grad students talk about when they’re drunk — what would happen if quantum mechanics invaded the macro world? What if reality is the way it is because we all expect it to be that way? What would happen if the next big paradigm shift changed the nature of reality itself? If Occam and Schrödinger got in a fight, who would win?
